Find the Right Stereo Head Unit for Your Cab
Not every Aptiv radio belongs in every cab. The standard Aptiv branded units cover most semis and equipment. Freightliner, Mack, and Volvo each have their own versions and conditions when the truck software needs a brand match.
When OEM Branding is Required
These are built with software designed to communicate with OEM software and features such as:
- Freightliner Branded models are intended and required only for use in Cascadia trucks 2017 and newer. For proper integration with new steering wheel controls and new dash displays, use a Freightliner Specific Model
- Mack with steering wheel and or sleeper controls — If you have any of these you should use a Mack Specific Model
- Volvo LECM, steering wheel and or sleeper controls — If you have any of these you should use a Volvo Specific Model
- Daimler, Paccar, Navistar, John Deere, Caterpillar, Volvo and others — Regardless of the cab features should use an Aptiv Heavy Duty Stereo
Aptiv Branded Models
These are great for use in any semi-truck or heavy equipment that does not require communication with OEM software. All Aptiv stereos include these common features:
- Heavy-Duty Design – made for a commercial vehicle driver by having larger buttons and a heavy-duty construction for tougher environments.
- SAE J1455 Compliant – meets all the test standards for reliability of an electronic component in a commercial vehicle.
- SAI J1939 Compliant – allows the different vehicle components that run on the communication bus system to talk to each other, compatible with most digital steering wheel/rear-sleeper controls.
- ISO-DIN Connector
Use the charts below to match the truck to the feature set. AM/FM/Weather Band with automatic baud rate sensing (250k/500k) is the baseline. USB, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM are the extras. If your truck needs the branded radio, pick that row. If it does not, the standard Aptiv model with the same features is the one to use.

Fitment
Every stereo listed here is a single-DIN head unit. If the truck was built with a factory radio in a standard single-DIN opening, these units are made to go in that same slot. These stereos each include a new metal mounting cage which should be used to replace the factory cage to ensure a safe installation.
That covers most semis and heavy equipment with a single-din in-dash radio. If your Kenworth or Peterbilt came with a NavPlus, SmartNav, or the Panasonic infotainment system, these stereos also fit the factory head-unit location.
