SmartNav 2.0 Retrofit Upgrade Kit for Peterbilt

The SmartNav 2.0 for Peterbilt is still available for purchase online at STS. This is great news for drivers who need to upgrade from the first generation system as well as those needing to replace their factory installed second generation SmartNav.

If you've been to your local Pete dealer and were told you need a new SmartNav system you likely weren't happy with the quote. STS has been authorized to cut that dealer price by about 50%. Vehicle Compatibility

Select the correct part number for your truck’s model and year. Even trucks that never had a factory navigation system can often accept the unit when an available dash location exists. Baud rate is selectable — 250k or 500k for proper communication across a wide range of years.

Home Screen

Easily interact with touch sensitive system icons. Touch and hold to drag it where you want it. Set the layout once so the functions you actually use are on the first page.

On a worn-out first-gen unit those icons are half the problem — they are there, they just do not do anything. A new SmartNav 2.0 brings the icons back to life with current software. Arrange them however the driver wants. And for the best part — with a new SmartNav system all of the icons will again function as expected.

Driver Tools

The SmartNav 2.0 keeps the extras in the dash instead of on a phone bouncing around the doghouse. SMS, the web browser, calculator, calendar, and system settings sit on the 7" screen with the radio and the maps. One place to tap, not a pile of apps while you are rolling.

CoPilot Truck Navigation Software

On-board navigation is becoming commonplace, but the SmartNav 2.0 is the first system in the industry to offer optimized routes customized to your truck and load parameters. CoPilot builds the route around this unit and this load — height, weight, and the roads a car GPS will send you down anyway. You set the truck once. After that it is turn-by-turn without a suction-cup unit on the glass. Travel the highways and byways with confidence knowing CoPilot has your back.

System Settings

System settings are on the screen, not buried in a dealer menu. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, date and time, and audio sit a swipe away. Camera inputs are there too — add the adapter and the views show up on the same display. The touch targets on a new unit actually respond. That is the difference from an old SmartNav that takes three taps while the system considers whether it'll respond or not.

Q. Is this the same upgrade equipment I'd purchase from my local Pete dealer?
A. Yes it is. Same parts, same models — much better price!
Q. When will my order ship?
A. It's now October 10th 2026 and our lead time is currently 1 to 2 days.
Q. Can I install in my truck not originally equipped?
A. In trucks around 2018 and newer it is usually possible. If you have a space in the dash where a screen would go and there's unused wiring behind the cover plate, it's likely that you can. You should contact Peterbilt with your VIN and ask them. Then give us a call or order online!
Q. Can I replace the stereo with an aftermarket and still use the navigation screen?
A. No you can not. The system is comprised of two major components; the stereo and the touch-screen. These components work hand in hand. One will not function without the other. If you want to replace your SmartNav with an aftermarket stereo you'll need the bypass kit PP807029 to get away from most first-generation systems.
